How does a "born and raised" couch potato start (and stick to) an exercise regimen.?
So a couple of things.... I am a nursing student and would like to loose some weight so that I can set a good example for my patients. I am 22 years old, 5'6'' and 180 lbs. My weight is pretty evenly distributed on my body so it is VERY difficult for me to monitor weight gain as well as be motivated by weight loss (because in the end, I don't really look any different). I am a born and raised couch potato-- I have barely ever exercised before in my life. Everytime I try to start, I can't go anymore than 10-15 minutes at low-med intensity without hyperventilating (this is not helped by the use of an inhaler)-- consequently, I get very discouraged and quit. I have read just about every health and fitness article that has ever been printed. Acai and colon -cleanse diets are bogus, so I don't even want to hear it. I guess I am just looking for someone who is/ has been in the same position as me. Hopefully someone I can relate to who can give me some guidance here....
