One Ounce Of Nutrition Is Worth A Pound Of Diet Pills And Tricks
The problems with our diets today started when we added lots of dairy and sugar. Sugar is something we have only started to eat a lot in recent years. Marie Antoinette said, "Let them eat cake." during the French Revolution and cursed us all. Being a king or queen is risky business. They cut off her head and we are still cursed eating cake every chance we get and getting fatter every day.
The other serious problem with eating a lot of these new foods is that they have little, if any food value. They make you fat and sick. They don't have enough food value to do anything else for you. All the food nutrients have disappeared during manufacture and processing, not to mention all the additives so the food lasts longer. If you only eat this kind of food, YOUR BODY IS STARVING and you are beset by cravings.
Here are our 7 simple rules for eating better and understanding what your body needs.
1. Skip the sugar. Your body can't metabolize it with any degree of safety. Humans were not designed to eat a lot of sugar. Sugar is omnipresent in packaged foods, including canned soups and, even, diet meals. Breads and desserts are easy to recognize as having sugar included, but sugar is in lots of other prepared foods, too. The most harmful is the trickster high fructose corn syrup, which chemically cancels your ability to feel full and satisfied despite the ads being shown by the industry on the TV today.
2. Find the freshest food you can either at a local farmers' market, fruit stand or grow some food yourself.
3. Eat a lot of complex carbohydrates (aka fruits and vegetables and some whole grains). Some protein and even a little fat works if you are moderate in how much you eat.
4. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables RAW! You get more nutrients if the food is not cooked. That's why canned foods are poor nutrition. It's all been cooked away. The only canned foods that are decent nutrition are tomatoes, beans and some olives, pickles and sour kraut. All these foods are better made at home.
5. Eat small frequent meals. If your body senses you are going to fuel up regularly your metabolism will speed up and burn fat off more efficiently.
6. Your body is like a little engine. It expects, craves and needs a certain range of nutrients to run well. Much of the land used to grow foods is depleted of minerals we all need to be healthy. The usual fertilizers factory farms add during growing contain only 3 of the 16 or so we need for good health. Take some good vitamin and mineral supplements. They will help insure that your body gets the nutrients it needs and slow down your cravings.
7. Don't eat much fat, especially the weird fat inventions of food companies like margarine and hydrogenated oil. You may be better off with a LITTLE butter, not that it's good. It is saturated fat, after all. Olive oil and vegetable oils are better, but still in small amounts.
Notice we have not talked about exercise. We all need exercise. Not only does it make us healthier and stronger, it also helps alleviate anxiety and depression without dangerous drugs. Your body is designed for movement and physical effort. It produces feel good chemicals to reward you and all of us for giving it what it wants and needs. Pick your own favorite form of load bearing exercise and another form of aerobic exercise. These types of exercises keep your body healthy and beautiful into old age and can accelerate the results of any diet.
