Fitness And Nutrition Practices To Avoid

There are many misconceptions about proper care of your fitness and nutrition. Most of which should be taken note of because wrong practices may worsen our health conditions instead of improving it as we intended to do.

Sometimes, people jump from one diet plan to another without knowing the risks. Whenever they hear about the latest fad weight loss diet, they immediately get into it. Though there are many ways to get your desired fitness and nutrition level, there are some common practices which you have to avoid. Here are some of them:

Eating power bars in replace of meals
This is a common mistake that people thought could improve their fitness and nutrition. Yes eating power bars will improve your metabolism but it requires you to eat a full balanced meal for it to work effectively. Power bars generates more energy that's very handy when exercising or doing a vigorous activity. It is supposed to be consumed as an added regimen to our food and not as a replacement.

Completely avoiding carbohydrates
This is another common misconception in maintaining our fitness and nutrition. It is true that carbohydrates make you fat but only if you have taken more than the recommended daily intake. But generally carbohydrates are helpful in promoting our fitness and nutrition in our body because it is the main source of our energy. Others may replace it with other kinds of food like protein based diets but in the end, they still need to take in carbohydrates to sustain a well balanced fitness and nutrition.

Taking muscle building supplements
For those who want to build up their muscles fast, taking in muscle building supplements is not the best way to promote your fitness and nutrition health. It may be true that these supplements can help build your muscles effectively but one must remember that these are just supplements. It will only work properly if the body has proper nutritional intake. If you want to increase the protein in your body, which is very helpful in enhancing your muscles, then there are many alternatives and more natural ways like eating fish and lean meat.

Reducing your intake of fluids
Some believe that reducing the intake of water can make you lose weight faster. This is entirely wrong. To promote fitness and nutrition properly, you must be able to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Experts say that even 1 percent of lack of fluids can affect our body negatively. Especially when exercising, it's best to take in more than the usual 8 glasses to replace fluids you have lost.

Starving yourself
People believe that eating can make you fat. This is not true; on the contrary it is overeating of the wrong kinds of food that can make your fitness and nutrition levels go down. Starving yourself is not the key to better health. If you skip a meal, there is a tendency that you will eat more on your next meal.

Fitness, Nutrition, Vegan/Vegetarian?
I am not a vegan/vegetarian, but I am a fitness junkie and I'm trying to educate myself and read up on proteins, nutrition, vitamins, nutrients, amino acids, etc. Stuff that our body needs, either some of, or more of, or stuff we don' get at all. Also I am a health nut as well and I have seriously been thinking about trying vegan/vegetarian but I am new to it and in the dark. Will it make it harder, or easier on my body as far as fitness goes? I read today in an October 2010 edition of Men's Journal that it will help your body build stronger muscle, and quicken brain activity over time, and the plant proteins are better than that of animal proteins. Okay...Well what goes into a Vegan diet? Is there an effecient one? As in effecient on the wallet? since most of the stuff I eat, contains butter, or eggs, and I'm told vegans don't eat those, but I don't eat much meat. I eat mainly bread, pastas, soups, fruits, and veggies. The only meat I eat really is lean baked chicken or some fish. I also have liquid supplements sometimes such as protein powder and amino acids. Help/advice/thoughts? My general question to shorten this up is, fitness and nutrition, bodybuilding, vegan/vegetarian vs what I'm doing now, benefits, loss, gain, pros, cons, etc. Thanks! @Tom Yeah I am new and like I said I'm still trying to read up and educate myself. I just decided I would toss this question out here after reading a bit of that article to find out more on this.

Email Fitness Diary Buddy Wanted! :)?
Good evening, As you all know summer is quickly approaching, and with it, swimsuit season! I am a 23yo female living in Seattle and going to school FT for business/nutrition. I love fitness and nutrition, it absolutely fascinates me, however, I am having a bit of trouble losing those last 10-15 vanity pounds. I am trying to get in fitness model condition. I have no problem getting to the gym (I workout 6 days/week, lifting weights 3-4 of these days) but I do have a little bit of an issue with my eating habits. I cook very healthy and clean and pack breakfast - dinner on a daily basis, but at work, I am sometimes bored and am constantly around dishes of candy etc and cannot resist! I am looking to start an ongoing email forum with someone else who is completely committed to losing weight but needs a little encouragement. We would email one another multiple times a day explaining what we have eaten and possibly our workout plan/struggles/accomplishments etc...basically being motivational and supportive for one another, while offering advice, and keeping each other accountable on a very regular basis. This would work best if you either work a desk job and/or have email capabilities on your cell phone and are able to reply to 3 or so short emails a day. If this sounds like a great idea, please reply! I have a lot of wonderful ideas, this could be a great deal of fun! KellyRae
